4 Wheel Parts
Engineering an off-road retail experience.
The mission: creating a "mud, sweat, and tears" brand environment for the leader in aftermarket off-road parts.
As the dominant name in the 4x4 world, 4 Wheel Parts needed their Riverside, CA, retail and exhibit space to do more than just display products; it needed to command respect. The challenge was to translate a legacy of "grease and grit" into a cohesive, high-impact retail merchandising system that felt authentic to the "air down" off-road lifestyle.
In partnership with Stein, LLC, I focused on a "Bold & Gritty" visual language. We moved away from polished corporate aesthetics in favor of heavy-duty typography, industrial textures, and high-contrast graphics. The goal was to make the customer feel like they were in a high-performance garage, not a sterile showroom.
- Environmental Graphics: Developed large-scale, "overland-inspired" wall graphics and signage that defined the retail flow and highlighted key product categories.
- Brand Merchandising: Designed a suite of retail assets, from point-of-purchase displays to floor graphics, that maintained a consistent "toughness" across the entire 4WP Riverside location.
- Trade Show Integration: Carried the "bold and gritty" aesthetic into the SEMA trade show environment, ensuring the 4WP presence was the loudest and most cohesive in the hall.
- Subculture Alignment: Created a visual identity that spoke the native language of the off-road community, increasing brand loyalty and in-store engagement.
- Scalable Retail Assets: Delivered a toolkit of environmental graphics that could be adapted for multiple 4WP locations and event spaces.
- Market Presence: Reaffirmed 4WP's position as the "go-to" authority for aftermarket parts through a professional yet unapologetically rugged brand presentation.
